It is fall and for many, we need positive emotions to get us through the next couple of months which can be plagued with stress and anxiety.
The holidays are coming and in the new year, we are left to fall back in place with our everyday routines.
Days are shorter and nights are longer and this leads some people to become distracted, detached, depressed, and many over-connected to social media to fill a void.
Research shows that there can be social and emotional benefits to applying positive psychology in your life.
Positive psychology concepts take many forms that you can apply to your life.
Mindfulness is not a “hippy thing” from the 1960s. It is a way to start your day with positive emotions by setting the right tone for your daily agenda.
Some people start their day with 1 to 5 minutes of meditation, others use a specific song that inspires and centers them.
Another idea is concentrating on a vision board or goal board and seeing these things as something you already have.
Positive emotions include feelings of joy, pride, love, happiness, acceptance, confidence, passion, humor, and more, which are all great for you and your body.
Having both negative and positive emotions is natural for all of us, but you can work to balance yourself with more positive emotions.
Concentrate on the strengths you have and eliminate your criticism of yourself and others. Give honest positive comments to people about what is good.
For everything that is negative, come back with three positive things to balance out the negative.
And be sure and do this with yourself. Don’t concentrate on everything you need to fix. Be proud of the things that are your strengths.
Red Light Therapy
I’m not sure about you, but fatigue can be a real problem, especially in the fall and winter months. I’m going to work in the morning when it’s dark, and when I get home it’s dark by 5 PM.
We need to be outdoors getting sun (vitamin D) on our skin, walking barefoot for a bit helps to ground us, but winter in cold climates, that’s no fun at all.
A great solution to this after a lot of research with initial skepticism, I invested in an infrared light therapy panel called the MitoMax.
The panel hangs from the back of my bathroom door. I stand in front of the 36″ tall panel about 18″ away in my underwear, and the light covers most of my body.
I give it about 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes before bedtime, slowly turning my body in a circle so my cells are receiving the red light as fuel to heal. You can listen to personal growth audios to make the best use of your time. Don’t check emails or social media, this is your time to visualize your goals and invest in a positive mindset.
The health benefits have been very noticeable, my energy levels are way up, my mood is better, my skin feels and looks better, I simply feel healthier.

Increasing the practice of gratitude could aid in eliminating negativity and increase positive emotions. Before you go to bed take the time to keep a journal that lists three things you are thankful for each day.
Another great thing is to give a ‘shout out’ on social media or just a text or call to a friend, coworker, or family member that has done something to help you! You will make their day!
Positive psychology concepts help increase positive emotions which can lessen the negative emotions and can help decrease anxiety. Positive emotions can open you up to more possibilities of being happier and healthier!

All of these positive and happy habits can start to attract many wonderful things into your life when you know what you want.
If you focus on joy and pretend as if you already have the things you want, like the dream job, the beach house, financial security, these things will start showing up in your life.
When we desire better relationships, better employment opportunities, more income, a dream vehicle, world travel, we can manifest these things with practice and patience.
Patience means not dwelling on what you don’t have, simply live every day with gratitude.
