How To Get Motivated When You Have None

In this article, I’ll share with you my best practices on how to get motivated when you have none. Commit to a time to show up daily & set a goal of making this happen for a month.

How To Get Motivated

I schedule my workouts at 6 AM Monday-Friday. I don’t have to have kids to school until 8 AM, and most of the streamed workouts are around 35 minutes. I treat this like a job. I show up and I do the work.

I work out at 6 AM because nobody else is awake at that time of the day to interrupt me. At 6 AM my kids are sleeping, as well as my employees or anybody else that wants my time.

I used to try and work out in the late afternoon or evenings, and it always made for unsatisfying workouts because the kids would argue and get into mischief….and I had to make dinner for the family.

Don’t focus on far you have to go if you have a lot of weight to lose, just focus on showing up and enjoying the journey. You will feel better, your health will improve, inflammation will start to fade, you’ll lose inches, and your confidence will grow.

 

 

You Are In Control Of What You Eat

The sooner you break your sugar addiction and quit eating processed foods, the sooner you’ll feel better and you’ll have less junk food cravings, making eating salads and healthy foods more enjoyable, and something you’ll crave.

My morning health shake reduces my junk food cravings tremendously and I no longer have those afternoon crashes where I have to turn to sugar or caffeine for an energy boost.

Get A Success Partner

I had a small group of success partners that I stayed in contact with daily using a group chat.

If anyone of us started to disappear, we’d check in on each other daily and kick each others rears back into the game.

Set your ego and excuses aside, and ask for help daily if you need it. I did, and it worked for me…..I lost 100 pounds. If I can accomplish this, so can you.

Remember WHY You Are Doing This

I place my alarm at the opposite end of the bedroom so I’m forced to get out of bed, those few seconds (think Mel Robbins 5 Second Rule) gives me time to think about my goals and avoid hitting the snooze button.

I remember my why and I march to the bathroom to brush my teeth to wake up more, and I listen to some personal development on audiobook, or podcast, or something motivational on Youtube to get me excited for the day. Then I start my 30-minute workout by 6:30 AM.

Get To Sleep Earlier. Sleep 8 Hours

I gave up TV years ago. I don’t have cable, dish, Netflix, or Hulu on my phone or tablet. I still enjoy going to the movies or renting a movie on family night, but otherwise, TV was keeping me up at night. The news is depressing, the pharmaceutical commercials are depressing. Once I gave up TV my mood improved significantly. I was getting outdoors more often with my family, and I was sleeping 8 hours again.

Staying up late watching TV causes people to snack. Snacking is full of calories which leads to digestive issues, weight gain, inflammation, and again more lost sleep due to upset stomach.

I don’t have a TV in my bedroom, and I have to keep my smartphone in my bathroom or living room because I’ll scroll social media, watch Youtube until midnight, then feel like crap the next day because I slept for 5 hours…..and then I’m moody, turning to energy drinks and sugary food to keep me awake at work.
