Often our society views technology as a distraction for good reason. However, I embrace fitness technology, using it as a tool to track my results and reach goals.
Technology such as social media can potentially pull our time and energy away from things more important.
We can get lost in spending hours upon hours scrolling through social media outlets and various apps. If we refocus that energy to begin using technology to benefit our fitness plan, we can elevate our workouts to new levels.
Music from our smartphone has become an essential part of our motivation when it comes to exercising.
Instead of just listening to your favorite internet radio station or artist from your library, try designing a specific playlist for specific workout routines using Spotify.
Certain playlists or song choices can be designed and organized to push you later in the workout when you are beginning to lose motivation.
When incorporating cardio, try having a steadier playlist that can help set a strong pace.
I love listening to a good podcast for both education and building strong self-belief. For example, I listen to audiobooks from the greats like Bob Proctor, Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, to name a few. Personal development audios don’t require a lot of time.
It might only be for 10 minutes here and there, but it’s better for your mental health than watching the news, which is so depressing.
You also should listen to something positive every morning when you first wake up for 10 minutes. Don’t check emails or social media until later in the day. We need to get the good stuff in our heads first thing to set the pace for having a great day.
After a weight training workout, I will go walk the local school track and listen to a podcast. In the winter I walk on our treadmill. If we’re walking, we should be listening to a business podcast about something that we want to get better at.
Fitness watches such as my personal favorite the Apple watch, and other trackers have become a new fashion accessory. However, they can also provide valuable data and settings that can boost your routine to higher levels.
These cool pieces of technology can help encourage and motivate you so that your fitness goals are on constant display in your life.
The more these goals are in your thoughts, the more you may be pushed to reach that extra mile or burn those last few calories needed for your daily limit.
The phone app world has seen a sizeable increase in fitness-related technology recently.
These apps can provide anything from meal planning and calorie counting to tracking your weight training and fitness goals. Some of these new apps can even provide daily workout routines.
Embracing these apps and using them can take the stress and guesswork out of planning your routines and allow you to just simply exercise.
One of my favorite features of my Apple watch is using a sleep app. Sleep is so important for fat loss, recovery, mental health and well being. Unfortunately, people are addictively glued to their TV or their device in bed too, and they are missing out on quality sleep.
Watching the TV or your phone in bed, you’ll tend to want to eat more food later in the night. The benefits of getting 8 hours of sleep will stop you from grazing and will improve your health in so many ways.
I use my sleep app as accountability to get 8 hours of sleep every night. As a result, I have been rewarded with better health.
I cannot stress the importance of sleeping on a quality bed mattress such as the Avocado, a great night’s sleep is worth the investment.
Instead of downloading the newest time-wasting game out there, try using a fitness app that is best suited for your personal fitness goals and reap the rewards that technology can bring to your body transformation.
